Man Who Attacked Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison

The individual who viciously assaulted Paul Pelosi, the spouse of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in their San Francisco residence while brandishing a hammer was sentenced to thirty years in prison on Friday, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California.

District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley nearly concurred with the U.S. Probation Office’s recommendation that David DePape be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors of the government had aimed for the maximum 40-year sentence.

The Associated Press reported that DePape’s counsel asked Corley to sentence him to fourteen years, saying he had no criminal record and was experiencing a difficult time in his life.

Corley delivered the sentencing while DePape remained mute, as reported by the outlet.

The Pelosi family issued a statement on Friday expressing their gratitude to those who have wished Paul Pelosi, or “Pop,” well since the attack and their pride in him.

DePape was found guilty by federal jurors on November 16 for attempted abduction of a federal official and assault on a member of the immediate family of a federal official, both of which derive from the assault that occurred on October 28, 2022.

Corley granted him twenty years for one tally and thirty years for the other, both of which begin simultaneously. Credit was granted to DePape for the entire 18-month period of his incarceration.
