Texas Sues the CDC Over Airport Mandates

The state of Texas has filed a lawsuit against the CDC challenging the federal airport mask mandate.

State Attorney General Jen Paxton and Representative Beth Van Duyne (R.-Texas) sued the CDC alleging the agency exceeded its authority by mandating face coverings in airports and on airplanes.

A statement read, “President Biden cannot continue governing through executive edicts… Now is the time to strike down his administration’s air-travel mask mandate.”

A key component of the suit claims that the order was not effective and did not provide the evidence that proved the action slowed the spread.

States have begun rolling back its mandates but the requirement of masks remains for airports and airplanes.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky has said that the agency will look at revising masking guidance but did not provide a timeframe.
