Jesse Watters Calls for GOP ‘Autopsy,’ Warns Republicans May Never Win White House Again If Texas Stays Blue

Fox News host Jesse Watters sounded the alarm Thursday night over the Republican Party’s midterm losses, warning that one state in particular could lock the GOP out of the presidency for good.

If Texas stays blue, Watters told viewers on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “a Republican will never sniff the White House ever again.”

Watters has emerged as one of the loudest voices on the right urging the party to take a hard look at what went wrong on Tuesday. He called for a full Republican “autopsy” of the results to make sure the same mistakes are not repeated.

At the center of his concern was Texas, long the backbone of the GOP’s Electoral College math. Democrats flipped the Texas state House in this week’s elections, a stunning development in a state Republicans have dominated for decades. Watters said Democrats had seized Texas and were on pace for the biggest midterm landslide since Watergate.

During the segment, Watters played a clip of the incoming Democratic leader of the Texas House and accused Lone Star State Democrats of talking about uniting minority voters against white voters. He argued such a strategy could succeed, because Republicans came close to losing the white vote on Tuesday.

Watters pointed out that Democrats have not won the white vote since Lyndon Johnson’s 1964 landslide over Barry Goldwater, underscoring how dramatic a shift that would be. A night earlier, Watters had expressed disbelief at the erosion of the coalition that powered President Trump’s victories, noting losses among men, Hispanic voters and white voters.

The Fox host also warned that Democrats were about to win a Senate seat in Mississippi, another sign of how far the political map had moved.

Watters placed part of the blame on what he described as a missed opportunity. He argued Republicans had a two-year window to dismantle the Democrat Party’s political operation, shut down what he called its illegal fundraising, crack down on Antifa, and hold figures including New York Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI Director James Comey and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis accountable.

Instead, Watters warned, a newly empowered Democratic Party is preparing to go after President Trump and his allies. He said Democrats are already talking about abolishing the Electoral College and impeaching the president, and noted that Democratic governors now control a majority of the states where most Americans live.

Watters echoed the message on X, where he shared a clip of the monologue. He wrote that Republicans need an autopsy report after the midterms, that the Trump coalition had shattered, and that if Texas goes blue for good, the GOP may never win again.

Watters’ warning is not new to Texas politics. Texas state Rep. Brian Harrison made a similar argument last year during the state’s redistricting fight, saying Republicans would never win the White House again if Democrats ever took over the Lone Star State.

With Texas now in play, Republicans face a pressing question heading into 2028: whether this week’s losses were a one-time backlash or the start of a lasting realignment.
