Florida Judge Issues Restraining Order Against Rep. Cory Mills After Finding Testimony Unconvincing

A Florida judge on Tuesday reportedly issued a restraining order against Representative Cory Mills, a Republican from Florida and former Army combat veteran, ruling that the congressman must stay away from his ex-girlfriend after determining his testimony was not credible.

Columbia County Circuit Judge Fred Koberlein Jr., presiding in Lake City, found that Mills “offered no credible rebuttal” to allegations from 26-year-old Lindsey Langston, the reigning Miss United States and a Florida GOP state committeewoman, who said the congressman harassed and threatened her for months after their breakup.

Mills, 45, a co-founder of several defense contracting companies and a freshman member of Congress, has faced a string of controversies in recent months, including accusations of stolen valor from fellow soldiers, a pending House Ethics Committee inquiry into his financial disclosures, and a report that he was evicted from his Washington, D.C. apartment for allegedly owing $85,000 in rent.

In February, another woman, 27-year-old Sarah Raviani, accused Mills of assaulting her, prompting police to issue a warrant after officers noted “fresh bruises” on her arm and described her as “physically shaking and scared.” Raviani later recanted, and Mills was not arrested.

Langston’s petition alleged that Mills continued to contact and threaten her after their breakup, even after she told him repeatedly to stop. According to court records, she said she ended the relationship when she learned from news reports that Mills had also been involved with Raviani.

Langston said the congressman then engaged in “emotional manipulation” and made threats of “physical violence against whoever I date in the future,” as well as threats to release explicit videos and photos that could have jeopardized her pageant title.

“The threats from Cory intensified over time,” Langston testified.

Judge Koberlein’s order requires Mills to stay at least 500 feet away from Langston and bars him from any form of contact, including by phone, text, or social media.

He specifically prohibited the congressman from mentioning Langston on “Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, or any other social media platform.”

During two days of testimony, Mills denied the allegations, claiming he had deleted the explicit videos and no longer had access to them because his phone was damaged.

Koberlein, however, rejected that explanation. In his written ruling, he said Mills’ account of the relationship was “difficult to comprehend and for the most part incomprehensible.”

The judge also concluded that Mills had “never told the truth” about his relationship with Raviani until being confronted under oath with her social media posts. He noted that Mills ignored at least eleven requests from Langston to leave her alone, contacted her using Raviani’s phone, reached out to her family, and even “caused a public employee under his direct supervision” to contact her.

Koberlein found that Mills’ conduct caused Langston “substantial emotional distress” and that she had “reasonable cause to believe she is in imminent danger of becoming the victim of another act of dating violence.”

The restraining order remains in effect until January 1, 2026.
