In a striking rebuke of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, President Donald Trump reportedly took to Truth Social on Thursday, declaring that “MAGA HATES FoxNews.”
His comments reflect a growing discontent among his supporters regarding the network’s coverage and polling accuracy, a sentiment that has been brewing for some time.
“The Crooked FoxNews Polls got the Election WRONG, I won by much more than they said I would,” Trump asserted, accusing the network of longstanding bias against him.
He expressed frustration with the polling results, which he claimed misrepresented public sentiment. “It’s why MAGA HATES FoxNews, even though their anchors are GREAT,” he continued, highlighting a contradiction in his relationship with the network that has historically been seen as pro-Trump.
Trump’s tirade included specific criticisms of a new Fox News poll that reported his approval ratings at just over 50%. He argued that the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border was misrepresented, claiming that “NOBODY WAS ABLE TO COME IN LAST MONTH.”
He contrasted this with the previous year when he said 60,000 people crossed the border under former President Biden’s administration. “I hate FAKE pollsters,” he lamented, suggesting that Fox’s polling practices remain unchanged despite their perceived ineffectiveness.
In a follow-up post, Trump turned his ire toward The Wall Street Journal, another Murdoch-owned entity. “The Wall Street Journal has No Idea what my thoughts are concerning Iran!” he declared.
This criticism comes amid reports that Trump has approved military plans against Iran but is waiting for a potential diplomatic resolution regarding the country’s nuclear program.
Trump’s relationship with both Fox News and The Wall Street Journal is complex. While Fox has often provided a platform for his views, its recent polling and coverage have drawn ire from the president.
Earlier this year, Trump praised Murdoch during a visit to the Oval Office, referring to him as a “legendary” figure. However, the recent comments suggest a significant shift in Trump’s perception of the media mogul’s outlets.
As tensions rise within the Republican base, Trump’s comments may resonate with a faction of his supporters who feel disillusioned by what they perceive as media bias from the conservative news titan.
