Representative Ilhan Omar faced backlash after reportedly telling a reporter to “f*** off” during an encounter about a controversial immigration case.
The incident occurred as she was approached by Daily Caller reporter Myles Morell, who asked if more Democrats should advocate for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant and alleged MS-13 gang member deported to El Salvador.
In the video shared by Morell, he identified himself and posed his question. Omar responded with, “I think you should f*** off,” repeating the phrase as she walked away.
When pressed for clarification, she continued to dismiss him without further comment, while a staffer indicated they were not taking more questions.
The exchange coincided with ongoing discussions among Democrats regarding how to address immigration and deportation policies under President Trump.
Some party members, including Senator Chris Van Hollen, had recently traveled to El Salvador to advocate for Garcia’s return, which sparked internal debate about the party’s stance on such issues.
Morell criticized Omar’s response on social media, calling it unprofessional for an elected official. Omar later doubled down on her remarks on X, stating, “I said what I said. You and all your miserable trolls can f*** off.”
The incident quickly gained traction online, with various commentators condemning her reaction.
British broadcaster Piers Morgan and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk were among those expressing disapproval, labeling her response as a sign of a lack of class. Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren also weighed in, describing her behavior as “nasty.”
Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad,” is no stranger to controversy, having faced scrutiny for her previous comments and actions regarding foreign policy and immigration.
