Steve Doocy, a longtime co-host of Fox & Friends, is reportedly transitioning to a new role after nearly 30 years on the morning show.
Announcing his departure from the “curvy couch,” Doocy expressed excitement about a change that allows him to sleep in a bit more. “After decades of getting up at 3:30 a.m., today is the last day I will host the show from the couch,” he said.
While leaving his daily hosting duties behind, Doocy clarified that he isn’t retiring but will take on a new position focused on remote assignments, such as popular diner segments.
He will continue to co-host the show but will appear less frequently from the New York City studio, allowing him more flexibility and the opportunity to travel.
In a recent conversation with Mediaite, Doocy reflected on his career and the decision to shift roles, explaining that he had been considering this transition for several years.
He discussed his discussions with Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott, which led to an agreement for a new schedule that would allow him to work three days a week.
Doocy noted the challenges of waking up early for nearly 30 years, stating, “I love the show, but the hours suck.” His decision comes as Fox & Friends continues to perform strongly in ratings, averaging 1.5 million viewers in 2025, leading the cable news morning shows.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Doocy is looking forward to spending more time with his family and possibly featuring them in segments.
“There is a decent chance those segments will end up with a grandkid sitting on my lap,” he said, emphasizing his excitement for the future while remaining a part of the beloved morning program.
