The suspect who is believed to have been responsible for the fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday has reportedly left New York City aboard a bus, according to officials from law enforcement.
After the gunshot, the suspect promptly fled the area, pedaling uptown on a bicycle before proceeding to the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD), which informed News Nation that live camera showed the suspect being seen fleeing the scene.
He is believed to have boarded a car that was leaving for an unknown location, according to the police.
An investigation has determined that the attack that took place in Midtown Manhattan outside of the hotel that was hosting the annual investor conference of the insurance business was a targeted attack.
In addition to the potential DNA evidence that was left behind at the scene, the New York Police Department revealed that the bullet casings from the gun that was used to commit the murder had messages carved on them that included the phrases “deny,” “defend,” and “depose.”
The mysterious three words also happen to appear in the 2010 book “Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don’t Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It.”
On Thursday, the department disseminated a photograph of the suspect who was not wearing a mask.
In addition, the police department offered a reward of up to ten thousand dollars for information that led to the arrest of the culprit.
