Lt. Governor of Texas Suggests Removing Biden From Ballot in Response to Colorado Supreme Court Ruling

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick of Texas hastily proposed the removal of President Joe Biden from the Texas ballot, seemingly as a political retaliatory measure against Donald Trump.

Tuesday evening, Fox News host Laura Ingraham engaged in a conversation with Patrick, during which they discussed Governor Greg Abbott’s recently introduced legislation that would designate the enforcement of illegal immigration laws by state police as a state offense.

Patrick shifted his focus from defending the measure and asserting its legal viability to criticizing Biden’s immigration policies, arguing that he should be disqualified from the presidency.

Patrick evidently alluded to the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to strike Trump off the 2024 state ballot on account of his conduct preceding and encompassing January 6th.

“Seeing what happened in Colorado makes me think — except we believe in democracy in Texas — maybe we should take Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing eight million people to cross the border since he’s been president disrupting our state for more than anything anyone else has done in recent history,” Patrick said.

As per the ruling, Trump incited an uprising, thereby rendering himself ineligible for the presidency in violation of Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits individuals who have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” from being elected to public office.
