Former President Donald Trump has reportedly criticized Kayleigh McEnany, his administration’s White House press secretary, for suggesting that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be gaining on him in Republican primary polls.
McEnany appeared on the Fox News program Jesse Watters Primetime on Tuesday evening, where she discussed DeSantis’ polling figures in Iowa, which will host the first round of Republican presidential primaries.
McEnany stated that DeSantis may be “closing the gap” in the Iowa GOP primary, although it was unclear which polls she was referencing.
Trump insisted that McEnany had provided the “wrong poll numbers” while criticizing her for allegedly promoting the governor of Florida.
“Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews. I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34. She knew the number was corrected upwards by the group that did the poll. The RINOS & Globalists can have her. FoxNews should only use REAL Stars!!!” Trump wrote.
It was unclear which poll Trump and McEnany, who served as White House press secretary from April 2020 to the end of Trump’s presidency, were referring to.
