On Wednesday, former president Donald Trump reportedly responded to Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R-FL) announcement that he will run for president in 2024 by making fun of the governor and the beginning of his campaign on Twitter, which he dubbed a “disaster.”
“I’d like to personally congratulate ‘Rob’ DeSanctimonious on finally announcing that he will be entering the race for President of the United States. Hopefully he will get the full experience of being attacked by the Marxists, Communists, and Radical Left Lunatics of our Country, without which he will never know the kind of job he is doing. These Lowlifes & Misfits are far worse than the leaders of hostile foreign countries. They must be soundly defeated in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump wrote on a post to his Truth Social platform.
“‘Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!).” Trump added.
DeSantis officially entered the race on Wednesday afternoon by submitting paperwork to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), hours before the billionaire Elon Musk appeared for a live-streamed event on Twitter where he made his presidential campaign announcement.
With his statement, DeSantis kicks off what is anticipated to be a thrilling campaign for the Republican nomination.
Trump increased his criticism and slurs of the governor, who is presently the former president’s strongest danger inside the GOP, even before DeSantis entered the race.
On the other side, while he planned for his 2024 campaign, DeSantis hardly ever mentioned Trump by name.
Instead, the governor of Florida has subtly criticized Trump while talking about topics like COVID regulations and winning the next election.
