DeSantis Claims Florida Showed ‘GOP How it’s Done’ After Major ‘Underperformance’ in Midterms

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently discussed the “huge underperformance” of Republicans nationwide during the recent midterms elections at a press conference on Thursday.

DeSantis went on to say that Florida showed the party “how its done” when it comes to building winning coalitions and winning elections.

DeSantis, who is seen as a leading GOP contender for the White House in 2024 by many political observers, noted that Republicans were expecting to win some 245 seats in the House, but are poised to secure only 222, giving the party a razor thin majority against Democrats.

DeSantis has mostly avoided direct clashes with former President Trump, who announced his third presidential bid last month during an event at his Mar-A-Lago resort.

However, he agreed with others in the party who thought Trump was primarily to blame for promoting candidates who lost important races despite economic uncertainties and President Biden’s low popularity.

In a possible 2024 primary, DeSantis has surpassed Trump in some critical states.

DeSantis is also reportedly slated to release a book next year.

DeSantis has so far avoided answering questions about Trump’s return to national attention, claiming that he was focused on performing his job in Florida.

In recent months, Trump has publicly chastised DeSantis, claiming credit for the governor’s ascent to popularity and urging him to stay in Florida rather than run for president.
