Jasmine Crockett Vows to Launch Impeachment Probe of Trump if She Gets Key Promotion

In a bold declaration, Representative Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, reportedly announced her intention to pursue an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump should she secure the chairmanship of the House Oversight Committee.

This commitment came during her appearance on “Inside Texas Politics” on June 2, 2025, as she prepares for a potential leadership role following the upcoming midterm elections.

Crockett, who is vying for the ranking member position on June 24, emphasized the need for accountability, particularly in light of what she perceives as Trump’s questionable activities during his presidency.

She indicated that if Democrats regain control of the House in the 2026 elections, she would “absolutely” initiate an inquiry.

Her remarks were fueled by ongoing concerns regarding Trump’s connections with various powerful figures and entities, including Elon Musk.

Crockett cited Musk’s involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and raised alarms about potential illegalities tied to Trump’s dealings with law firms and educational institutions like Harvard.

She claimed that Trump has pressured law firms to provide legal services without charge, a situation she argues exemplifies his disregard for legal norms.

Crockett expressed her belief that Trump’s administration had engaged in practices that warranted thorough investigation, particularly regarding the dismissal of inspectors general who were looking into Musk’s dealings.

“We need to fully understand the implications of these actions,” she stated, underscoring the Oversight Committee’s unique authority to oversee presidential conduct.

This potential inquiry would also extend to Trump’s alleged violations of the Emoluments Clause, particularly concerning a reported $400 million plane deal with Qatari interests.

Crockett asserted that such investigations are vital to revealing the truth about Trump’s presidency and ensuring historical accountability.

The late Representative Gerry Connolly, who previously held the ranking member position, passed away on May 19, leaving a significant vacancy within the committee.

Crockett’s statements suggest a readiness to fill this gap with aggressive oversight if the Democratic Party regains power.

In a recent interview on “Alex Witt Reports,” she reiterated her commitment to investigate Trump’s actions, framing it as a constitutional duty. “As members of the House, we are sworn to conduct oversight,” she remarked.

This resolve reflects a broader far-left strategy aimed at countering the Trump administration and addressing grievances that many in the party believe were left unresolved.

As the political landscape shifts ahead of the midterms, Crockett’s vow signals a potential radicalization within the Democratic party going forward.

Whether her ambitions come to fruition will depend not only on electoral outcomes but also on the public’s response to ongoing political controversies surrounding Trump and his associates.
