Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is pushing back on speculation that conservative commentator Tucker Carlson could launch a third-party campaign for the White House after President Donald Trump leaves office, dismissing the rumors as unfounded.
Speaking with Politico Playbook over the weekend, Greene said Carlson has made it clear both publicly and privately that he has no intention of seeking the presidency.
“Tucker, he’s not running for president,” Greene said. “He said that publicly. He said that privately.”
Greene also ruled out a White House campaign of her own, telling the outlet she has no plans to run for president.
Instead, Greene used the interview to criticize the current political system, arguing that the nation’s two major parties have failed the American people.
“Our argument is the two-party system is a complete and total failure,” Greene said. “I am 100 percent totally completely disgusted with both parties.”
Her remarks came after online speculation intensified following the circulation of a photo featuring Greene, Carlson and Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky. The image fueled rumors that the trio could be laying the groundwork for a new conservative political movement outside the traditional Republican and Democratic parties.
Greene addressed those rumors after being asked about the viral image, rejecting the idea that Carlson is preparing a presidential campaign despite the growing discussion surrounding his political future.
Carlson, the former Fox News host and media personality, became the focus of renewed presidential speculation last week after releasing a video on his social media platforms outlining what he described as a vision for “what America should be.”
The video prompted fresh debate over Carlson’s future in politics, though Greene insisted the commentator has repeatedly denied any interest in entering the presidential race.
In recent months, Carlson has publicly broken with Trump on several issues despite having previously been a supporter of the president.
Among the points of disagreement were the war in Iran and the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files. Like Greene and Massie, Carlson has voiced criticism over those issues, highlighting differences with the president while remaining a prominent voice in conservative media.
Even as speculation about his political ambitions has resurfaced, Carlson has consistently rejected suggestions that he intends to run for president.
According to the report, Carlson has pushed back on that possibility for years, even as he has become increasingly critical of political leaders from both major parties.
In his recent video, Carlson argued that leaders in both the Republican and Democratic parties have “colluded against the population to make their lives better and our lives worse.”
Those comments, combined with his recent public disagreements with Trump and the viral image featuring Greene and Massie, fueled online discussion about whether a new political movement could emerge. Greene, however, dismissed the notion that Carlson is preparing a presidential campaign, pointing to his repeated public and private statements denying any such plans.
While the speculation has generated significant attention, Greene’s comments sought to put the rumors to rest, emphasizing that Carlson has consistently maintained he is not running for president, while also making clear that she has no intention of seeking the White House herself.
