Conservative commentator Victor Davis Hanson sharply criticized former Vice President Kamala Harris during the latest episode of his podcast, mocking her speaking style and reacting to her recent interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Speaking on his Friday podcast for The Daily Signal, Hanson described the interview as a failure and argued that Harris struggled to communicate her ideas.
“It was just a disaster,” Hanson said of the conversation. “She knows nothing. Has no detail, no memory, [and has] a vocabulary of 500 words.”
Hanson then launched into an impression of Harris, jokingly imitating what he characterized as her tendency to speak in broad, abstract language.
“She started in on ‘This behavior and people expect — they have to have hope…’” Hanson said while mimicking Harris.
According to Hanson, Lemon’s reaction suggested surprise at Harris’ performance.
He imagined the interviewer thinking, “Wow, those right-wing SOBs are really correct: she is an idiot, isn’t she?”
Hanson also speculated about Harris’ demeanor during the interview.
“And then, you never know whether how many drinks she’s had,” Hanson said. “I’m not trying to be malicious, but she does act inebriated.”
He then continued his impression, exaggerating Harris’ speaking style with a fictional exchange about deciding what to have for dinner.
“I just can’t believe being in the same room with her everyday. Can you imagine?” Hanson said before acting out the scenario.
In the imagined conversation, Hanson portrayed someone asking Harris, “What are we going to have for dinner?”
He then jokingly answered in character as Harris:
“Dinner? It’s such a cosmic idea. I mean think about it, dinner it came after lunch. But what is lunch? Who knows. But everybody cares. Let’s talk about it. Think about it. We’re becoming lunch and then we become dinner, and that’s a process of becoming breakfast. It’s fascinating. Look at the stars, it’s the same thing.”
Hanson’s co-host, Sami Winc, laughed at the impression during the segment.
The remarks came after Harris’ interview with Lemon gained significant attention on X during the past week, with one portion of the discussion circulating widely online.
During the interview, Harris spoke about the importance of hope and resilience.
“We each have have light inside of us. And we need to know that that is what inspires our hope as much as anything external to ourselves,” Harris said.
“And when we feel that, and not allow an election or an individual to dampen that light, um and instead light — let that light kind of carry us, in particular through moments of darkness.”
She continued by encouraging people to act on that hope and encourage it in others.
“That we not only act on that hope, but we inspire that hope in each other,” Harris said. “And in particular, at this moment, it is so important that we not only have hope, but that we understand that that should be a verb.”
After discussing the interview, Hanson said he hopes Democrats nominate Harris again in the 2028 presidential election, arguing that such a decision would benefit Republicans politically.
His remarks capped a segment devoted largely to criticizing Harris’ interview performance while contrasting it with what he believes would be the political consequences of another presidential campaign by the former vice president.
