Lahren Says Omar Proves the Case for Strong Borders After ICE Rant

Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar on Sunday, calling the Minnesota Democrat the “perfect poster child” for closing the U.S. border after Omar said Americans should be “ashamed” that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are deporting illegal immigrants from what she called the “U.S. G*ddamn States.”

Lahren delivered her remarks during an appearance on The Big Weekend Show, after Fox aired footage of Omar attacking ICE during a Democratic field hearing held Friday in St. Paul, Minnesota. The segment set the stage for Lahren’s blunt and unapologetic response.

“I actually have to thank congresswoman Ilhan Omar,” Lahren said, arguing that Omar’s rhetoric underscores why stricter border enforcement is needed. Lahren said Omar’s comments exemplify why the United States should close its borders and stop bringing in people who, in her view, show no respect for the country, its laws, or the officials tasked with enforcing them. Her comments drew laughter from co-host Joey Jones as she continued her critique.

Lahren broadened her criticism to other Democrats, including California Rep. Eric Swalwell, who said earlier this week that he would revoke the driver’s licenses of ICE agents if he were elected governor. Lahren said comments like those show where Democratic priorities lie.

According to Lahren, Democrats such as Omar and Swalwell consistently side with illegal immigrants over American citizens. She argued that Democrats support giving driver’s licenses to people in the country illegally, while at the same time seeking to punish ICE agents who are enforcing federal immigration law. In her view, that contradiction highlights a fundamental disconnect between Democratic leaders and the concerns of everyday Americans.

Lahren’s remarks come as Minnesota has been under an intense national spotlight in recent weeks. The state has been embroiled in political controversy following criticism of Gov. Tim Walz after prosecutors alleged that a massive $9 billion fraud scheme took place during his administration. According to reporting cited in the article, more than 90 people have been charged in connection with the case, and the issue has drawn sharp political reactions.

President Donald Trump has publicly criticized both Walz and members of Minnesota’s Somali community over the fraud allegations, adding to the already heated political climate in the state.

Minnesota has also seen a wave of anti-ICE protests over the past two weeks following the shooting death of protester Renee Good. Those demonstrations, combined with the broader controversies surrounding immigration enforcement, have fueled tensions across the state.

Lahren argued that Omar’s inflammatory language toward ICE and the United States only pours gasoline on an already volatile situation. Rather than calming tensions, Lahren said, Omar’s attacks on federal law enforcement make matters worse at a time when Minnesota is already struggling with unrest and controversy.

For Lahren, Omar’s comments serve as a clear example of why she believes strong borders and firm enforcement of immigration laws remain essential issues for the country.
