President Trump declared Friday that he remains in perfect health and once again passed a cognitive examination with a flawless score, brushing aside renewed questions about his fitness as he continues his term as the oldest person ever elected president.
In a Truth Social post, the president said White House doctors had informed him that he is in “perfect health” and that he had “aced” his cognitive test for the third straight time. Trump emphasized that he answered every question correctly, a point he has repeatedly highlighted as critics and members of the media scrutinize his age and mental sharpness.
Trump contrasted his willingness to take such exams with past national leaders, saying no previous president or vice president had been willing to do so. He went further, arguing that anyone seeking the presidency or vice presidency should be required to undergo a cognitive test, framing the issue as one of transparency and accountability to the American people.
The president’s comments come amid ongoing discussion about his health after he told reporters in October that he had undergone an MRI. At the time, Trump did not elaborate on the reason for the scan, other than to say the results were “perfect,” a description consistent with his latest statements.
However, Trump later clarified the nature of that imaging in an interview with The Wall Street Journal published Thursday, explaining that the test was a CT scan rather than an MRI. The distinction fueled additional media attention, even as the president maintained that the results showed no cause for concern.
Trump’s physician, Sean Barbabella, addressed the matter in a memo released last month, aiming to put lingering questions to rest. Barbabella explained that the scans were conducted because men in the president’s age group benefit from comprehensive evaluations of cardiovascular and abdominal health. He described the assessment Trump received as standard procedure for an executive physical at the president’s age.
Following the Journal interview, Barbabella issued a further statement clarifying the sequence of events. He said medical staff had recommended a second physical examination in October to ensure Trump’s continued optimal health. As part of that process, doctors suggested advanced imaging, either an MRI or a CT scan, to definitively rule out any potential cardiovascular issues.
According to Barbabella, Trump agreed to the recommendation, and a team of consultants performed a CT scan. The results, he said, were entirely normal. The post-examination report found no abnormalities, reinforcing the president’s assertion that there were no underlying health problems.
Trump has repeatedly pointed to these medical evaluations as evidence that concerns about his health are unfounded. By highlighting both his cognitive test results and the clean imaging, the president has sought to project confidence and stamina, while turning the conversation toward broader standards for those who seek the nation’s highest offices.
