Tensions Simmer Between Biden and Harris as White House Prepares Damaging Counterattacks, Journalist Reveals

Former President Joe Biden’s inner circle is reportedly prepared to unleash a wave of damaging stories about former Vice President Kamala Harris should she publicly question his mental fitness in the wake of his 2024 exit from politics, according to veteran political journalist Mark Halperin.

Speaking on his show 2WAY Friday, Halperin revealed for the first time that Biden’s team has a trove of unflattering information about Harris’s tenure as vice president — and is willing to go public if she tries to distance herself from Biden’s cognitive decline or suggests she was kept in the dark.

“I’m going to break a little news here, okay?” Halperin began. “We talk all the time about, you know, what did Kamala Harris know and when did she know it about his cognitive decline?”

“I will tell you, and this has never been reported, barely at all: if the Biden people decide that Kamala is coming after Joe Biden, wait till you hear the ‘Palinesque’ stories about how much they tried to help her be prepared to be vice president and be in a position to run,” Halperin said, referencing the rocky vice-presidential candidacy of Sarah Palin in 2008.

According to Halperin, if Harris crosses a certain line, the gloves will come off.

“If the Biden people feel threatened, you will hear stories about Kamala Harris as vice president that will not make her look good, okay?” he said. “They were extraordinary in trying to help her do the job of vice president. They gave her every opportunity. And they did—they found in some instances that she had some issues.”

The implication: Harris, despite being next in line for the presidency, did not instill confidence in the White House during her term. And if she now tries to claim she was unaware of Biden’s decline, Biden loyalists are prepared to strike back — hard.

While Harris and Biden are not currently “at war,” Halperin cautioned that the dynamic could change quickly. “If Joe Biden feels threatened… this is gonna escalate in a big way,” he said.

When pressed by co-host Dan Turrentine on whether this was speculation or reporting, Halperin didn’t hesitate: “That is reporting, that is not Spidey sense. If I ever get around to a book about 2024, you’ll read a lot about that.”

The warning from Halperin underscores the fragile post-presidency détente between Biden and Harris, both now former officeholders. While Harris has remained relatively quiet since the 2024 election loss, any effort to rebrand herself at Biden’s expense may ignite a political feud the Democratic Party is not prepared to handle.
