In a striking and potentially historic turn, CIA Director John Ratcliffe reportedly signaled on Sunday that high-profile prosecutions of former Obama-era officials—including Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and former CIA Director John Brennan—may still be on the table in connection with the discredited Russia collusion narrative that plagued President Donald Trump’s first term in office.
Appearing on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Ratcliffe confirmed that criminal referrals have been made and left the door open to further accountability.
“What that intelligence shows, Maria, is that part of this was a Hillary Clinton plan,” he said, referring to the origins of the Steele Dossier and the broader “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation. “But part of it was an FBI plan to be an accelerant to that fake Steele Dossier… by amplifying the lie and burying the truth of what Hillary Clinton was up to.”
“For a four-year period of time, the truth about the origins of the Russia collusion hoax was hidden from the American people,” Ratcliffe said. “And unfortunately… those same people were already at that point in time onto their next hoax, the Hunter Biden laptop. This was a month before the 2020 election.”
When asked whether statutes of limitations might block prosecution, Ratcliffe pointed out that testimony by several former Obama officials—still within legal bounds—remains under review.
Both Ratcliffe and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have made criminal referrals to the Department of Justice in recent weeks. Gabbard went so far as to float a charge of “treason” against former President Barack Obama, citing new evidence related to the alleged orchestration of efforts to delegitimize Trump before and during his presidency.
Bartiromo pressed Ratcliffe further: “So what I think I hear you saying is there is still an opportunity for indictments, potential prosecutions, accountability from those people who may have lied under oath, like John Brennan, James Comey, and perhaps Hillary Clinton.”
“Well, that’s why I’ve made the referrals that I have,” Ratcliffe confirmed. He emphasized that key intelligence has yet to be declassified but will likely surface soon through the long-awaited John Durham report.
“The underlying intelligence that I have spent the last few months making recommendations about—final declassification—and sent that to the Department of Justice… that will come out in the John Durham report, Classified Annex,” he said.
Rejecting the notion that these efforts constitute political retribution, Ratcliffe made it clear that the goal is transparency and accountability.
“We will continue to share the intelligence that would support the ability of our Department of Justice to make fair and just claims against those who have perpetrated this hoax against the American people and this stain on our country.”
In what could mark a turning point in the pursuit of justice, Ratcliffe’s comments suggest that for the architects of the Russia collusion hoax, legal reckoning may no longer be a question of if, but when.
