Former Vice President Kamala Harris has now reportedly expressed her support for the hyper-violent ongoing anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles, asserting that these demonstrations have been “overwhelmingly peaceful,” even in the face of violent clashes with federal authorities.
Her remarks come after a series of protests erupted following federal raids targeting undocumented immigrants in Southern California.
In a statement released on Sunday, Harris, who maintains a residence in Los Angeles and is reportedly considering a run for California governor, voiced her concern over recent events.
“I am appalled at what we are witnessing on the streets of our city,” she said, while redirecting criticism towards President Donald Trump and his administration.
Foreigners illegally enter the US.
They protest being held accountable per US law by burning the flag of the country in which they want to stay while waving the flag of the country to which they refuse to return.

Harris condemned the deployment of the National Guard as a “dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos,” positioning it within the broader context of what she described as a “cruel, calculated agenda” by the Trump administration to incite fear and division.
While acknowledging the protests, Harris did not directly address the violent incidents that included rioters hurling rocks, concrete, and fireworks at federal officers and their vehicles. Instead, she emphasized the importance of protest as a “powerful tool—essential in the fight for justice.”
Their official position is that they’re appalled by what’s happening in Los Angeles…because of Trump and ICE, not the violent rioters. In its current form, this party cannot be salvaged. https://t.co/pcomvDfhek

This framing has drawn criticism, particularly from political opponents who argue that it downplays the severity of the unrest.
Democratic leaders, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, have also opposed Trump’s National Guard deployment, highlighting the need for peace during demonstrations.
However, they have faced backlash for their perceived inability to quell the violence.
Both Newsom and Bass have publicly denounced acts of aggression and vandalism, a point that Harris did not explicitly address in her statement.
Republican officials quickly seized upon Harris’s remarks. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas quipped on social media, “No surprise that the most incompetent Vice President in history stands with the illegal alien rioters.”
White House Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Harris’s statements reflect her alignment with lawlessness.
As the protests escalated, law enforcement reported multiple arrests related to the violence.
The FBI is actively seeking information about individuals involved in attacks on law enforcement, offering a reward of up to $50,000 for tips leading to arrests.
FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized that any assault on officers would not be tolerated, regardless of the motivations behind such actions.
Despite the turmoil, Harris reaffirmed her commitment to support those advocating for immigrant rights, framing the protests as a manifestation of a community demanding dignity and due process.
As unrest continues in Los Angeles, the dialogue surrounding immigration policy and law enforcement remains deeply polarized, with Harris’s comments adding further complexity to an already contentious issue.
