ABC News has now reportedly suspended senior national correspondent Terry Moran after he faced significant backlash for a late-night social media post that criticized White House aide Stephen Miller and President Donald Trump.
The post, which has since been deleted, characterized Miller as a “world-class hater” and suggested that he “eats his hate” for “spiritual nourishment.” In a broader condemnation, Moran also referred to Trump in similar terms.
The suspension was confirmed by an ABC News spokesperson, who emphasized the network’s commitment to objectivity and impartiality. “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others,” the spokesperson stated.
“The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards—therefore, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.”
Moran’s remarks, which came in a moment of heightened tensions surrounding immigration policy and federal enforcement actions, drew immediate criticism from Trump administration officials and other conservative voices.
Vice President JD Vance, among the most vocal critics, labeled Moran’s comments a “vile smear” and urged viewers to remember Moran’s words when consuming ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration.
Vance further defended Miller, asserting that he is motivated by a genuine love for his country and that such characterizations from journalists reflect a broader bias in the media landscape.
“What Terry posted is disgraceful,” he stated, calling for an apology from ABC to Miller.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt joined the chorus of criticism, describing Moran’s comments as “unhinged and unacceptable.”
She indicated that the White House is seeking accountability from ABC for Moran’s statements, which she argued exemplify a troubling trend in media.
Katie Miller, the wife of Stephen Miller, expressed her discontent with the media’s portrayal of her husband.
“This is why Americans don’t trust the Legacy Media,” she remarked, accusing ABC of fostering a radical leftist bias and calling for Moran’s immediate termination.
Stephen Miller himself weighed in on the controversy, suggesting that Moran’s outburst revealed a deeper issue within the corporate press.
“The most important fact about Terry’s full public meltdown is what it shows about the corporate press in America,” he stated, asserting that many journalists adopt a guise of objectivity while harboring radical views.
As the fallout continues, the incident raises questions about the boundaries of journalistic expression and the expectations placed on reporters in an increasingly polarized political climate.
ABC’s decision to suspend Moran highlights the delicate balance media organizations must navigate in maintaining credibility while addressing the emotions and tensions that surround critical national issues.
