An individual who has been a lifelong critic of President-elect Trump, former Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan (R), who supported Vice President Harris’s quest for the White House in 2024, has reportedly been expelled from the Georgia Republican Party.
The former lieutenant governor was “hereby expelled from the Georgia Republican Party,” according to a resolution that was included in a press release issued by the Georgia Republican Party on Tuesday.
The resolution was drafted by the State Executive Committee of the group.
The Georgia GOP’s statement stated that Duncan would now be referred to “as ‘expelled Republican Geoff Duncan’ or ‘ousted Republican Geoff Duncan’ when you go to him for quotes trashing President Trump and the Republican Party.”
In a later response to the event Duncan stated that it was hard “to believe this is a good use of time for a party that’s only got a limited amount of time to figure out mass deportations, world peace and global tariffs.”
As the 2020 presidential election was taking place, Duncan was met with criticism from his fellow Republicans because he sided with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) rather than President Trump in the process of certifying the election results.
Additionally, Duncan delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2024, during which he informed the audience that voting for Harris meant “you are a patriot.”
“I can spend my time revving up this crowd, but I’m certain I don’t have to talk anybody out of voting for Donald Trump here. So I’m going to focus my attention on the millions of Republicans and independents at home that are sick and tired of making excuses for Donald Trump.” Duncan said.
