David Axelrod, a former White House aide and CNN contributor, criticized President Biden on Friday for his abrupt response to a correspondent for the network who had previously inquired about concerns regarding his age and memory.
During a heated exchange with reporters on Thursday evening, Biden vehemently refuted claims put forth by a special counsel report concerning his recollection of crucial aspects of his personal life and political trajectory.
According to Axelrod, what was concerning about the incident “was the way he reacted to [CNN reporter] MJ [Lee] when she asked a question, that was completely legitimate, which is what are you going to do about the fact that so many people have this question, and he snapped at her.”
Biden insisted his memory is ‘fine’ during the heated exchange with a variety of reporters.
“It’s the opinion of a lot of Americans who only see you in front of a camera. They don’t see you in the situation room. They don’t see you in these closed-door meetings. And they are drawing their conclusions from what they see.” Axelrod said.
Axelrod then second guessed the decision to put Biden in that situation to begin with.
