Israeli Military Accidentally Guns Down Three of Its Own Hostages

The IDF announced on Friday that the Israeli military accidentally shot and killed three Israeli captives in Gaza after they were “erroneously identified… as a threat.”

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, stated that it was unclear whether the hostages had escaped or been abandoned by their captors. He stated that the attack took place in the Shijaiyah neighborhood of central Gaza City.

Yotam Haim and Samer Talalka were both identified as two of the three victims.

The announcement is made hours after the Israeli military retrieved the remains of three additional Israeli detainees who were being held captive in Gaza by Hamas.

Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser of the United States, convened with Palestinian leaders on Friday to discuss the future of Gaza following the annihilation of Hamas in the current conflict.

Regarding the future of the region, the Biden administration and the Israeli government have been at odds, with the administration advocating for Palestinian control despite indications from the Israelis that this will not occur.
