Following accusations that the president, who has long cultivated an image as a family guy, had disregarded the daughter of Hunter Biden and a lady from Arkansas, President Biden reportedly finally recognized his seventh granddaughter for the first time on Friday.
After Hunter Biden and Navy Joan Roberts’ mother, Lunden Roberts, resolved their disagreement over child support, Biden made his first remarks about the 4-year-old girl.
Hunter Biden claimed to have “no recollection” of meeting Roberts in his biography from 2021, but DNA testing in 2019 proved he was the father of their child.
“Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. This isn’t a political issue, it’s a family matter. Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.” Biden announced in a new statement.
The president was under pressure to recognize that he had a seventh grandson, whom Hunter Biden claims he fathered while suffering from drug addiction, as a result of the Bidens’ focus on the value of family.
Conservatives criticized the president for declaring earlier that he only had six grand children a figure that excluded Navy.
Separately, the president’s son is accused of petty tax offenses. He entered a not guilty plea to the tax charges earlier this week after a plea agreement with the Justice Department on the topic was put in risk during a tumultuous court session.
