Using an unnamed source, Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson claimed on Thursday that the CIA was directly involved in the death of former President John F. Kennedy.
While traveling through Dallas in a motorcade on November 22, 1963, Kennedy was brutally shot in the head.
Lee Harvey Oswald, a former Marine and communist militant, is suspected of firing the fatal shot.
Oswald himself was later assassinated two days later by nightclub owner and mob associate Jack Ruby.
President Joe Biden signed an executive order allowing the full disclosure of the long-secret assassination-related papers.
Thousands of records were made available on Thursday by the National Archives and Records Administration.
Carlson mentioned the 1992 John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act, which required that by 2017 all records pertaining to Kennedy’s assassination be made public.
But neither former President Donald Trump nor current President Joe Biden have cooperated entirely, with hundreds of pages of documents still being withheld from the public for reasons which remain unknown.
“Today, we decided to find out. We spoke to someone who had access to these still-hidden CIA documents, a person who is deeply familiar with what they contained. We asked this person directly: did the CIA have a hand in the murder of John F. Kennedy, an American president? Here’s the reply, we received, verbatim. Quote: ‘The answer is, ‘yes.’ I believe they were involved. It’s a whole different country from what we thought it was. It’s all fake,’” Carlson said, quoting his unnamed source on the matter.
“Again, this is not a quote ‘conspiracy theorist’ that we spoke to. Not even close. This is someone with direct knowledge of the information that once again is being withheld from the American public. And the answer we received was unequivocal: ‘Yes the CIA was involved in the assassination of the president.’” Carlson continued.
Due to an alleged national security risk, Trump declassified only 2,800 of the 3,100 papers pertaining to the killing during his time as President.
