WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) delivered the following remarks today on the Senate floor regarding the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to be Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court:

GOP Senator Turns on Mitch McConnell Over Criticism of Senate Candidates

Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee is firing back at Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) after the Senate Minority Leader criticized the quality of the Republican Senate candidates across the country.

Scott told Politico that he and McConnell have a strategic disagreement about how to describe the party’s senate hopefuls, Mediaite reports.

The response comes after McConnell gave a grim outlook on the prospects of the Republicans taking back control of the Senate.

McConnell stated, “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate… Senate races are just different. They’re statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”

In response Scott said of McConnell, “Sen. McConnell and I clearly have a strategic disagreement here … We have great candidates… I think it’s important that we’re all cheerleaders for our candidates.”

Scott continued, “If you trash talk our candidates … you hurt our chances of winning, and you hurt our candidates’ ability to raise money… I know they’re good candidates, because I’ve been talking to them and they’re working their butts off.”

Senate races in Pennsylvania with Doctor Mehmet Oz, and in Georgia with Herschel Walker seem to be ripe for the Democrats to take, And that is lowering the probability of the GOP taking the Senate.

McConnell appears to be throwing in the towel as these candidates continue to fight.
