Trump Claims Conviction has been ‘Very Hard’ on Former First Lady Melania

In the midst of testimony detailing his alleged infidelity, former President Trump stated on Sunday that his wife, Melania, has been significantly affected by the weeks-long criminal hush money trial in New York City and his conviction on Thursday.

“She’s fine, but I think it’s very hard for her,” Trump said in a recent interview with Fox & Friends.

“I have a wonderful wife who has to listen to this stuff all the time. They do that for this reason. They do that, all these salacious names that they put in of these people, and I’m not even allowed to defend myself because of the gag order. Think of it,” Trump continued.

“But they put this stuff in to create havoc. These are bad people. I know everything they’re doing. I know every move they make; I get it.” he added.

On Thursday, Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business documents, marking the first time a former president has been convicted of a crime. He has filed an appeal against the decision.

The charges were associated with hush money payments that were made in the weeks leading up to the 2016 election with the intention of concealing alleged past affairs between Trump and an adult film celebrity. Trump has denied these allegations.

The alleged affair with pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels took place in 2006, just a year after Trump married Melania and months after the birth of their son, Barron.

Trump later stated in the same interview that he is “okay” with the possibility of being sent to prison.
