Lawrence B. Jones, co-host of Fox & Friends, criticized Vice President Joe Biden for his racially charged commencement address at Morehouse College on Sunday.
Throughout his address to the historically black institution, Biden addressed a variety of racial issues.
Dutzend students in the audience turned their backs on the stage throughout the address in protest of U.S. support for Israel.
“It’s natural to wonder if democracy you hear about actually works for you. What is democracy if Black men are being killed in the street? What is democracy if a trail of broken promises still leave Black communities behind? What is democracy if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot? And most of all, what does it mean, as we’ve heard before, to be a Black man who loves his country even if it doesn’t love him back in equal measure?” Biden said.
On Monday, Jones referred to the president’s video as “unbelievable” and criticized him in multiple Fox & Friends segments.
“Just imagine that your parents have made all these sacrifices, you’ve made all these sacrifices, and you get to attend one of the top colleges in the country, and then you graduate, and then the moment that is a joyous time, you have the president of the United States telling you that you’re going to be shot in the street by cops, that you’re going to have to work 10 times as hard, and that the country doesn’t love you. I mean, what time of nonsense if the president trying to pull off right now?” Jones said.
Jones contended that the commencement address and subsequent discourse on race are an act of “desperation” to boost Biden’s approval among African American voters.
“How does he know? He’s talking like he’s a Black man. How does he know the experience?” Jones said.
