Trump Demands Arizona Legislature to ‘Act’ After GOP Blocks Dems From Repealing Abortion Ban

Former President Trump implored Arizona legislators to promptly modify the state’s abortion legislation following a state Supreme Court decision that affirmed a law from 1864, thereby criminalizing the act of conducting the procedure.

The remarks constituted the most recent consequences of the decision, which has put Republicans in a state of urgency to react, while Democrats persistently criticize Trump about the matter of abortion.

“The Supreme Court in Arizona went too far on their Abortion Ruling, enacting and approving an inappropriate Law from 1864. So now the Governor and the Arizona Legislature must use HEART, COMMON SENSE, and ACT IMMEDIATELY, to remedy what has happened.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Remember, it is now up to the States and the Good Will of those that represent THE PEOPLE,” he continued.

Trump’s appeal followed the actions of Arizona Republicans who, earlier in the week, thwarted efforts by Democrats to reverse the court-mandated prohibition on abortions.

The Arizona Supreme Court has determined that the statute enacted during the Civil War era, prior to Arizona becoming a state, must be upheld.

The court has decided to remove the temporary suspension on the law, which means that it will become effective in 14 days.

Nevertheless, the judges remanded the case to a lower trial court in order to resolve uncertainties over the law’s validity.
