Democrat House Members Forced to Condemn Vandalization of Synagogues in Washington

Wednesday, two Washington-based Democratic House members were forced to condemn the vandalism of a synagogue in their state.

Wednesday, the Herzl-Ner Tamid synagogue in Mercer Island, Washington, verified in a Facebook post that it had been vandalized “overnight” with graffiti.

“The vandalism at Herzl-Ner Tamid is horrifying and heartbreaking. I condemn this atrocity and stand with the Jewish community in the Ninth District and across the country. Our Jewish friends deserve to feel safe – especially at their places of worship.” Rep. Adam Smith said in a post on social media.

The report also stated that local authorities and the FBI “are all actively involved.”

Anti-Defamation League (ADL) data indicates a significant increase in antisemitic incidents since last month, when the current conflict between Israel and Hamas began.

The ADL recorded 312 antisemitic incidents that occurred between October 7 and October 23. These numbers represented a 388 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year.

The increase in anti-semitism comes in the wake of Israel’s current war with Hamas, which occured after the terror group launched a brutal surprise attack on the Jewish state which resulted in the deaths of over 1200 Israelis.

Since then a number of Democratic lawmakers have expressed their support for the Palestinian cause.
