Trump Lays Into Conservative Billionaire Charles Koch

On Wednesday, former President Trump reportedly criticized conservative megadonor and billionaire Charles Koch, calling him “highly overrated.”

His remarks were in response to June news reports that Koch had raised tens of millions of dollars to support a candidate to succeed the outgoing president in 2024.

“Very stupid, awkward, and highly overrated Globalist Charles Koch of the Koch Network doesn’t have a clue. He said his best years were the four years during the Trump Administration, and now his people are aimlessly throwing away other people’s money. Watch what happens to Charles Koch!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He referenced a June New York Times piece in which it was revealed that the Koch political network had raised more than $70 million to “help Republicans move past” the former president and to back candidates across the political spectrum.

Despite opposing Trump’s election as president in 2016, Charles and his brother David Koch—who passed away in 2019—supported his Supreme Court nominees, and several members of the Koch network ended up serving in the Trump administration.

Conservative politics have benefited greatly from the Koch brothers’ influence over the past several decades.

During the 2020 election campaign, their network contributed roughly $500 million to conservative causes and supported GOP candidates.
