Romney Tells Off George Santos During State of the Union

As he entered the floor for the State of the Union Address, Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney reportedly had a heated confrontation with Republican New York Rep. George Santos.

Romney reportedly told Santos ‘You Don’t Belong Here’ during their encounter.

Santos, 34, is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for allegations that he is a serial liar as well as alleged campaign finance violations.

He is also apparently being investigated by the FBI for an alleged fake charity scam.

Romney also appeared to tell Santos multiple times that ‘I’d be embarrassed’ when Santos was attempting to shake hands with President Biden.

Romney appeared to confirm his negative opinion of Santos to a reporter as he exited the chamber after the State of the Union:

“I didn’t expect he’d be standing there trying to shake hands with every senator and the President of the United States. He should be sitting in the back row and staying quiet instead of parading in front of the president and people coming into the room,” Romney said.

Romney went on to say that Santos’ claims went far beyond mere ’embellishment’ into the territory of downright lies.

Santos apparently had his own version of the exchange which he shared with a reporter:
